Police arrested the main accused in the murder case filed over the killing three of his family members from Phultala upazila in Khulna on Friday.
The arrestee, Tuhin Sheikh, son of Mithu Sheikh of Shona Padma
village in Bera upazila, confessed to law enforcers that he had killed his mother Buli Begum, 35, younger brother Tushar, 10, and aunt Mariam Khatun, 50.
Three days after the incident, Pabna police managed to arrest the main accused, said Zihadul Kabir, superintend of district police, in a press conference at his office on Saturday afternoon. The accused, later, gave a confessional statement under the 164 Act in front of local court Judge Abdul Momin, said the police super.
In his statement, Tuhin said that he had married Runa Khatun nine months back against his family’s will, which led to frequent scuffles in their house.
As a result, on July 4, he stabbed his mother, brother and maternal aunt with a sharp weapon while they were sleeping in a room and fled the scene, said the police super quoting Tuhin’s confessional statement.
