Chittagong Bureau :
The chief of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has urged the authorities concerned to keep open the educational institutions which remained closed following the repeated calls of hartal and blockade.
He came up with the call at a press conference held at the CMP Headquarters here on Monday morning. While addressing, CMP Commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondol was of the view that all the English medium schools in the port city should remain open from Monday as the CMP authorities, what he said, are providing all-out security to them.
He hoped that the remaining educational institutions in the city would also start keeping open soon during hartal-blockade. “There is no logic to keep the educational institutions closed as the situation of the port city is quite normal now,” he observed. He also informed that a total of 78 cases were filed and 473 persons were arrested in Chittagong city since January 6. The authorities concerned are looking for those responsible for extending financial supports to the saboteurs, he told journalists.
