KCC workers clean city within 16 hrs on Eid day

Workers of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) cleaned the entire city within 16 hours after slaughtering of the sacrificial animals from August 12, the Eid day.
The KCC sources said over 730 workers have been engaged to remove the wastes of the sacrificial animals in the city on Eid day and Tuesday.
The workers have started their cleanliness around 11:00am on the Eid day that continued till Tuesday.
Comprising 31 wards,KCC authorities appointed several vigilance teams to look over the drive and also opened a control room to conduct the operations.
Besides, around 60 trucks, six container movers and 255 vans were on the city streets to remove the wastes till Tuesday, said Azizul Haque, chief of conservancy department of KCC.
KCC workers sprayed 1,800 kgs of bleaching powders at the places of slaughtering of sacrificial animals in the city.
Besides, a shower of rain on Tuesday also helped removing the bad smells of the animals’ wastages.
Meanwhile, city dwellers gave a little response to slaughter their sacrificial animals on the government designated spots.
Earlier, KCC authorities have fixed a total of 140 slaughtering spots at 31 wards and conducted a campaign among the city dwellers to ensure an environment friendly city during Eid-ul-Azha.

Tuesday to watch the cleanliness drive of the KCC workers.
While talking to BSS, Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque said, “City dwellers have sacrificed around 7,805 sacrificial animals during the Eid-ul-Azha. It was a hard task to clean the city within 16 hours, but the workers had done the job.”
