 Awami League and BNP candidates have continued their election campaign at different places of the city yesterday.
Awami League candidate Talukder Khaleque said that, he will launch all out effort against drug paddlers. He assured about development of drainage system, safe drinking water, mosquito free city and health of mother and child facilities.
He was speaking at a gathering at ward no 30 and 31 recently.
BNP Candidate Nazrul Islam Manju warned the drug paddlers and hoodlums. The businessmen will no longer be prey of snatchers and Chandabaz in the city. He also asked the city dwellers to come forward with courage against the bad people.
He was speaking before the crowed at different places 20 no ward while distributing leaflets. He also campaigned at ferry ghat, Agrani Bank Colony, Deben Babu Road, Shaik Para, Sheikh Para Bazaar, Gallamari Bazar and road side houses.
Leaders and workers of the candidate were with him at that time.
BSS from Khulna adds: Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury here yesterday said EC will present a free, fair and credible city corporation election.
EC Shahadat said it would be proved through the ensuing city corporation polls that the Election Commission is capable enough to ensure free, fair and neutral elections.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the divisional coordination meeting of Khulna City Corporation Poll-2018 at the conference room of Khulna Circuit House.
EC Shahadat also said the EC would take legal action against the people who would be responsible for negligence of duty as well as partiality.
Claiming that all the elections were held in a free, fair and neutral manner during the tenure of the present election commission, the election commissioner said the government has not interfered in any election so far.
“It is a challenge to EC to conduct a credible election, the commissioner Shahadat said, urging everybody to complete the task fairly.
