To achieve the target the Kazi IT, which is now having more than 1,200 expert officials, employees and IT professionals in its three centers and a call center, will need more 1,000 employees and IT professionals.
The IT farm authority has offered the interested persons as well as students for the job, which will be highly paid and prestigious for the talented persons. To get the job in the farm, the interested persons will have no need to know IT matters. Mike also wants to rise its annual earning of foreign exchanges at one billion by this year. But, English language is the main problem in Bangladesh. Those, who are eligible for the job, are not interested to work in the sector while incompetent persons are trying to get the job due to its high salary, he added.
Bangladesh is struggling for human resources for business process outsourcings (BPO) market due to lack of skills in English language, a industry expert opined.
BPO is a subset of outsourcing that involves contracting the operations and responsibilities for a particular business process to a third-party service provider.
Mike Kazi, chief executive officer of Kazi IT Centre, has expressed his experiences with hiring resources for BPO tasks mostly with United States.
“Huge talents exist in Bangladesh. We want to engage them in potential sectors like back office works. But, we can’t recruit them for poor skills in English communication,” Kazi said while talking to the Daily Observer at latter’s head office in Dhaka recently.
Kazi said the firm is set to earn around $ 100 million by this calendar year if they found 1,000 skilled workforces in back office works.
Based-on California, the firm has been dealing back office works for over 50 foreign firms of which mostly from financial sector. They opened two new offices in Dhanmondi of capital and Rajshahi prior to start operations through office at Khilkhet in Dhaka in 2010.
The company is currently running its business in California, USA. Last year, its turnover was $57 million, which is expected to reach $100 million this year, said Kazi,
The non-resident Bangladeshi entrepreneur also said that most of the training programmes produce unskilled resources as the authorities picked applicants from last grade.
Kazi thinks the government’s target of $ 5 billion from tech enabled industries is achievable, however, skilled human resource yet a big challenge for the target.
“We want to establish a full fledge academy to provide international-standard degree on soft skills on corporate communications and concerned fields. Anyone completed under graduation can admit here to prepare them for any world-class work place,” Kazi added.
Kazi informed that KITC has made collaboration with United Kingdom-based research institute Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to develop an ecosystem and to explore potential of tech-enabled markets here.
“I went to America in my childhood and grew up there. Gradually my love for the country has been increased. So from interest of doing something for the country, we have been working with the office in this country,” Kazi recalled his days abroad.
“We are taking people without any experience. But he must be proficient in English. We have a target to create jobs for 100,000 people in 20 years. Anyone can apply here after completing graduations from any discipline or institutes,” the entrepreneur detailed about the recruitment.
