Chittagong Bureau :
Mobile court of Chittagong Port Authority imposed penalty of Tk 1.50 lakh to 3 vessels for polluting the Karnaphuli River.
One foreign vessel of Panama flag vessel MV Sole of Luck fined with Tk.50 thousand for emitting black smoke in the river and two local oil tankers were imposed penalty of Tk 1 lakh for dumping effluents in the river water, sources said. Executive Magistrate of CPA Dr Anupam Saha conducted the mobile court.
Sea Consortium is the local agent of the foreign vessel. The oil tankers are MT Sultana Saha and MT Mitual Express.
Moreover, the foreign vessel is also carrying excess cargo than the capacity, sources said. The oil tankers are accused of releasing black oil in the river water.
