Kapasia drug dealers fined for selling illegal steroid

A mobile court has filed a case against two vendors in Kapasia, Gazipur, for selling expired drugs. The verdict was handed down by Most. Ismat Ara, judge of the mobile court at Tok Bazar in Kapasia Upazila on Sunday night.
Ismat Ara, also the Kapasia Upazila Nirbahi Officer said, some shops in Kapasia were selling steroids for fattening and refreshing cattle to be sold in the ensuing Eid-ul-Azha. Stores were raided. At that time the shopkeepers sensed and removed the medicines, but the expired medicines were available in the two shops. Later, a case was filed against them and a fine of Tk 15,000 was imposed. Two days ago, information was found about the sale of steroids in those shops.
The UNO also said that the body of cattle becomes swollen after taking steroids. Then the cattle feel fresh. One class of farmers or traders sell these animals at higher prices. It has also been reported that these animals die suddenly due to excessive steroid use. Usually farmers or traders take this kind of medicine ahead of Eid. There are many cattle farms in Kapasia area. Many shopkeepers sell these medicines for the needs of farmers or traders.
