A Dhaka court yesterday placed Nusrat Shahreen Raka, sister of expatriate journalist Kanak Sarwar, on a 5-day remand in two cases filed against her under the Digital Security and Narcotics Control Act.
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order after police produced Nusrat Shaheen Raka in the court with a 14-day remand plea.
Members of RAB-1 arrested Raka, 38, wife of Nasir Uddin Majumder,
in the city’s Uttara area early Tuesday on the charge of spreading anti-state propaganda.
RAB members seized a mobile phone set with alleged anti-state contents, a passport, and some Ice or Crystal Meth from her possession during the arrest.
