Awami League nominated mayoral candidate Badar Uddin Kamran on Thursday submitted the nomination paper for contesting the Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) Election scheduled to be held on July 30.
Badar Uddin Kamran submitted his nomination paper to the Acting Returning Officer Alimuzzaman around 1 pm. Organising Secretary of city unit Awami League Misbah Uddin Siraj, general secretary of District unit Awami League Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, city unit General secretary Asad Uddin Ahmed and party leaders and activists
accompanied him during the submission. Besides, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, BNP nominated mayoral candidate, resigned from his post as the mayor of SCC around 1 pm. He submitted his resignation letter to the Local Government Ministry through the executive officer of the Ministry. Earlier in the day, Ariful Haque had a meeting with the SCC officials and took adieu from them. Meanwhile, Ariful is scheduled to submit his nomination paper after offering Zuhr prayer at Dargah mosque.
