Kidney Awareness Monitoring and Prevention Society (KAMPS), a voluntary health care giving organization has come up to stand by the distressed Rohingya refugees with huge quantity of relief materials including various healthcare giving items and medicine.
A 15- member team of specialized Doctors, technologists and volunteers reached Ukhia at Coxsbazar on Thursday along with the relief materials.
Chairman of KAMPS, also Chief Consultant, Department of Nephrology, LabAid Specialized Hospitals, Professor Dr. M A Samad led the KAMPS team, he distributed relief materials and provided helth care services to sick and wounded Rohingya refugees almost daylong on Friday.
Besides, distributing relief materials, KAMPS volunteers also provided different medicines to the sick and wounded Rphingya refugees.
KAMPS President MA Samad also exchanged views with the local administration and public representatives over how to expedite the healthcare giving process so that severely sick or wounded patients can be saved.
Professor Samad said lack of sufficient safe drinking water, shelter, and basic food are causing rapid deterioration of the patient’s condition which may turn into an epidemic form. Specially major harms like Kidney failure may also cause.
“To extend hand in the humanitarian works side by side the government initiatives, various private sector organisations, NGOs, voluntary organisations have come forward to provide support to the refugees which has been a rare example humanitarian service by Bangladesh to Rohingyas”, KAMPS Chairman added.
He mentioned that KAMPS has engaged itself in humanitarian works, specially in the health care sector for quite over a decade of time and today’s initiative of standing by the distressed Rohingya refugees is also as part of that spirit.
“We, with our limited ability, will distribute relief materials, provide health care service and medicine free of cost to the refugees today (Friday) and Saturday, I believe that it is very less comparing to the needs but I believe that it’s moral duty of KAMPS and also for me as a Doctor”, Prof. Samad added.
Managing Director of Rezwan Salehin, General Manager, Ayub Hossain, Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Md. Sajib Sikder, Md. Abdullah Al-Momen and local volunteers of Cox’sbazar took part in the team.
