Bangladesh Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has been elected to chair the Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting (CFMM) 2022.
The decision was taken at a virtual meeting of Commonwealth finance ministers on Tuesday on the sidelines of World Bank-IMF Annual Meeting-2021.
The meeting was attended by 54 finance ministers of commonwealth countries and high-level delegates of 54 countries.
He has been given such prestigious honour following a formal proposal mooted by Malaysia and supported by Brunei in this CFMM.
After being elected as the new chairperson of CFMM for 2022, the finance minister thanked the authorities concerned on behalf of the people of Bangladesh.
This year’s CFMM was presided over by Prime Minister of Antigua Gaston Browne.
The speakers at the meeting highlighted providing loan for sustainable and economic recovery, providing loan for tackling climate change impacts, Commonwealth climate finance access hub and other issues.
