Kamal seeks more Chinese investment in SEZs

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday urged China to support Bangladesh through making more investments in countrywide different Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
The Minister made the plea when Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Zhang Zuo met him at his office on Wednesday, a press release said.
He said there are ample scopes for investment in marine fisheries sector and maritime technology. “Blue economy is a vast area where Chinese public companies can invest and exploit the natural resources including fisheries and minerals,” he said.
Kamal also urged the Chinese ambassador to consider Bangladesh as a prime destination for Chinese investment to further enhance the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues including different economic and development issues like FDI, Project Financing and Trade.
Ambassador Zhang Zuo said that China would pursue for making more investment in Bangladesh. He mentioned that several companies are eager to come in Bangladesh for investing in different potential areas, such as, fisheries, agro-processing, footwear, processed food and readymade garments.
He further added that recently a Chinese company has showed their interest to invest in steel sector in Bangladesh.
