Senior lawyers Dr Kamal Hossain, Barrister Mainul Hosein along with Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury went to Dhaka District Bar at about midday yesterday where the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate heard the bail petitions of the students arrested in connection with the road safety movement.
They told reporters present in answer to questions that they came not to appear in the court but to show their solidarity with the lawyers who are fighting to secure bail for the students and congratulated them for their success in
obtaining release of the students on bail.
They also let it be known that they came to the court premises to plan the next step of going to higher court along with other lawyers to pray for their bail before Eid if so needed.
They also met the learned magistrate A K M Moinuddin Siddiqui in the chamber after the bail orders passed to show their respect towards him and expressed gratitude saying the students were children of ours all. They should not have been arrested because the cause they supported was the cause appreciated by all. The learned magistrate was kind to meet them and said that the students were their children also.
There was all over joy and happiness at the release of the students on bail for they will be able to be reunited with their families to celebrate the Eid.
