Risingbd.com :A militant, who was killed in Kallyanpur raid, has been identified as grandson of Abdul Monem Khan, former governor of East Pakistan.Monem Khan was the governor of erstwhile East Pakistan before being independent Bangladesh- from 28 October 1962 to 23 March 1969. Dhaka Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Unit Chief Monirul Islam said that according to the data, militant Akifuzzaman Khan was grandson of former East Pakistan governor. He was also a student of North South University. Earlier, the autopsy of bodies of the nine people who were killed in police firing during Tuesday’s raid in capital’s Kalyanpur.Police claimed that all of nine people were members of outlawed militant outfit Jama’at-ul Mujahideen, Bangladesh, notoriously known as JMB, although the photographs released by the police showed that the killed people were carrying flag of Middle-East based international terrorist organisation Islamic State (IS).Monem Khan was a loyal aide of Ayub Khan and infamous for repression on the Bengali nationalists during the regime. Due to his active collaboration with Pakistan Army against Bangladesh Independence Movement, Monem Khan was assassinated by Muktibahini guerrillas at his residence in Dhaka during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
