I’ve a plan to develop Dhaka as an environment friendly city”, she told The New Nation on Monday.Kabori was elected an MP to the National Parliament in the previous tenure of Awami League government from Narayanganj Constituency-4. As the future mayor of the north part of capital, she has targeted women empowerment and remodeling of Dhaka as her prime goals.”At present, life in the capital is inhabitable for the city dwellers. The roads of the city are very ill formed. Dhaka goes under water only after a small bit of rain. The waste disposal system is also very poor,” Kabori said. She added, “Children of the city are sad because of the lack of sufficient play grounds. Transportation system is also very poor. Street lights mostly do not function during night hours.”Speaking about the woes of the city dwellers, Kabori said, “Although the citizens are giving taxes, they are not reaping any benefits from it. All lakes and rivers surrounding the capital urgently need recovery.” When asked which problem she will first resolve as mayor of the capital, Kabori said, “First, the transportation crisis has to be resolved. The footpaths have to be recovered from the grips of corrupt political activists so that civilians can use them freely.”
