Kabir Suman to pay musical tribute to revolutionary Pritilata Waddedar

A new film starring popular actress Pori Moni will shed light on the brief but valiant life of revolutionary Pritilata Waddedar, who led a group of 15 revolutionaries in an unforgettable armed attack against the oppressive British rule. The film titled Pritilata, written by prominent lyricist Golam Rabbani, will be helmed by Rashid Palash, and tell the tale of the first recognized woman martyr in the fight against British regime.
Popular singer Kabir Sumon will sing a rendition of the memorable song Ekbar biday de maa ghure ashi, Hashi hashi porbo phanshi, Dekhbe Bharot bashi, originally sung by Lata Mangeshkar in a ‘60s film Shubhash Chandra.
Kabir Suman said in a video message, “I was contacted by Rashid Palash from Bangladesh, who wanted me to sing in his film. When I learned, his project was about the iconic revolutionary Pritilata, I agreed at once. And I must say I am very proud to be a part of this film.”
Pori Moni will play the titular role while the rest of the cast is yet to be revealed. Bibi Russell is in talks to serve as the costume designer for this period drama. According to latest reports, Pritilata would begin filming from November 1.
