A fire broke out in a jute godown in Daulatpur area of the city on Saturday afternoon. Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station, said the fire broke out in no 10 godawn of FR jute mills
owned by Sharif Fazlur Rahman in the area around 3:20pm.
On information, eleven fire fighting units from Daulatpur fire station rushed to spot and doused the fire after an hour of frantic efforts. Fire service sources said the fire originated from electric circuit in the godown.
The extent of loss caused by the fire could not be estimated immediately.
