The election to the executive committee of Jahangirnagar University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) will be held today at JU Teachers’ Club on the campus.
The voting will be held between 9.00 am and 1.30 pm while 506 teachers will cast their votes to elect the next executive committee for the year 2016.
A total 15 executive members will be elected.
The contestants are in two panels. They are: Awami League backed panel known as ‘Bangabandhur Adarsha o Muktijuddher Chetonay Biswasi Progotisil Shikkhok Somaj’ and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) backed panel known as ‘Bahudoliyo Gonotontra, Swadhinata o Sarbo-voumattya o Bangladesh Jatiyotabade Biswashi Shikkhak’.
Professor of Statistics Department Dr. Ajit Kumer Mazumder and Associate Professor of Government and Politics department Bashir Ahmed will contest as president and general secretary respectively from the AL backed faction.
Professor of Government and Politics department Dr. Md. Shamsul Alam and Professor of philosophy department Kamrul Ahsan will contest as president and general secretary respectively from the BNP backed panel.
