The 32nd death anniversary of Justice Syed Muhammad Hussain will be observed today.
Justice Hussain was an eminent Judge of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh who was removed under Martial Law in 1984. His bold role for the independence of Judiciary, dedication for the cause of rule of law, democracy, human rights and his honesty and integrity and learned judgements made him famous in and outside the country.
He was chairman of the Bangladesh Chapter of International Law Association. Amnesty International and International Commission of Jurists. He led several delegations to many International Conferences in Europe, Asia and Africa. His publication includes a book titled’ Banglar Katha.’
Justice Syed Muhammad Hussain is one of the pioneers of cultural movement in our country and was General Secretary of the Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA) and Pakistan Arts Council.
In recognition to his contribution, Justice Syed Muhammad Hussain was awarded ‘Swadhinata Padak” (Postumas) in 1998.
