The authority of Jashore University of Science and Technology has imposed a ban on politics over a stalemate following hurling abusive words towards Iqbal Kabir Jahid, president, Teachers Association.
The decision was taken at a meeting comprising the university authority and local lawmakers and representatives of different social and political organizations.
The meeting was held at the conference room of the administrative building of the university till 7pm since 3pm on Thursday.
Dr Md Anwar Hossain, vice chancellor, JUST chaired the meeting. The meeting was attended among others by Swapon Bhattachariya, state minister for local government and rural development and also lawmaker, lawmakers Sheikh Afil Uddin, Major General (Rtd) Dr Nasir Uddin and Ismat Ara Sadeq, Saifuzzaman Pikul, chairman, Jashore district council, Shahidul Islam Milon, president, Jashore district unit Awami League and representatives of Jashore district BAR Association and cultural organisations.
The meeting came into a decision that politics caused stalemate on the university campus for which all sorts of political activities will be prohibited on the campus until further step is taken.
Dr Mohammad Nazmul Hasan, General Secretary, Teachers’ Association confirming the information told Newsmen that teachers of JUST morally decided to attend academic activities from Sunday after holding a meeting of the association for Saturday.
He also told that teachers of the university were observing strike protesting at hurling abusive words towards the association president by a former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League and attacking on its human chain by the same student front since January 12.
