What made you write a book while being in a job?
It’s very easy to get stuck in a rut and I was stuck too in the rut of corporate pressure, till the time I realized that I can do much more than this and then I started as a freelance writer.
Is it easier to write a book these days?
Yes, it is, since there are more avenues to get published. The self-publishing model is a boon to the people who want to write and get published. I too brought out my book by self-publishing method. And because I was able to bring it out, it now has a place on the shelves of one of the biggest publishing houses.
Is the audience more prepared today to read different genres?
Yes, the audience is ready. They want to read different genres, especially something which is off literary fiction. People realized that heavy literary fictions are not for the masses and so the mood of the audience currently is right for the content which resonates with the common man. Do you think it’s a ‘Chetan-Bhagat-wave’ that has influenced the shift from literary to popular fiction?
No, I don’t think so. Maybe the ‘Chetan-Bhagat-wave’ was important 5-6 years ago, but now, we have moved far from that. We are now looking at more engaging, interesting and good content from different spheres and far away from just romance.
