Chattogram Bureau :

Questions have raised in promotion of the General Manager, Bangladesh Railway, East Zone for violating the seniority.
According to list of seniority, Jahangir Hossain is the most junior on the list of 14 officers but he is given the responsibility of the General Manager of Eastern Railway. Thus, violating seniority has created frustration among the senior officers. The order of promotion of Jahangir Hosain came from the railway headquarters last Thursday which reached the office of the Railway East zone , Chattogram.
Jahangir Hossain was the project director of the Mongla project in Khulna. Sardar Shahadat Ali was the acting general manager since the retirement of Sheikh Nasir Uddin, former general manager of east zone . Sardar Shahadat Ali is being posted as Additional Director General.
It has been alleged that the last person in the list of 14 officers is being promoted to the post of General Manager in violation of the seniority announced by the Public Service Commission.
It is learned that Manjurul Alam was the first among the 14 senior officers of the Public Service Commission in the 10th BCS. Then Mihir Kanti Griha, Kamrul Ahsan, Abdullah Baki, Shahidul Islam, Mofizur Rahma, Mizanur Rahman, Nur Ahmed Hossain, Ruhul Quader Azad, Asim Talukder, Ramzan Ali, Sardar Shahadat Ali, Arifuzzaman and Jahangir Hossain respectively.
Railway officials say that there is anger over the appointment of Jahangir Hossain, who is at the last position in the seniority list. Concern officials think that violating seniority in this way is a ‘bad’ example.
