UNB, Dhaka :Muslims across the country observed Jumatul Wida, the last Friday of Ramzan, with due religious zeal and reverence.A large number of fasting devotees attended the Jum’a prayers at mosques across the country with special munajats seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country and the unity of the Muslim Ummah.Jumatul Wida has a special importance as it is a prelude to the departure of holy month of Ramzan and considered the harbinger of the end of the showering of divine blessings that characterise the holy month.The biggest Jumatul Wida congregation was held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital.Special arrangements were made to accommodate the extraordinary surge of the faithful in all mosques in various parts of the city. The congestions spilled over onto the streets at places as mosques lacked sufficient space for the increasing number of devotees. During the Jum’a prayers, imams and khateebs delivered sermons on the importance of Ramzan, Eitekaf, Eid-ul-Fitr and other religious issues, and exhorted the faithful to submit themselves to the will of Almighty Allah to seek His mercy and blessings.They also called upon Muslims to purify their souls through greater dedication to prayer, seek the forgiveness of Allah Almighty and being kind to fellow beings.The devotees also prayed for solidarity, safety and prosperity of the country and the Muslim Ummah besides seeking Allah’s blessing for the solution of a spectrum of individual and collective problems.
