Juktofront leader Mahi B Chowdhury on Tuesday said their combine has planned to participate in the forthcoming general election under the Awami League-led grand alliance.
“Juktofront and Awami League will hold a formal meeting in this regard very soon. We’ve come here to discuss about the formal meeting,” he said while talking to reporters after a meeting with AL leaders at the ruling party’s Dhanmondi office.
Awami League Secretary Obaidul Quader was present at the meeting.
Mahi said this is the beginning of the formal talks between the 14-party alliance and newly formed Juktofront over the election.
He also said their aim is not to stand either against Awami League or BNP. “We do politics for Bangladesh.”
Mahi, also a Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) leader, expressed the hope that BNP will part its ways with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
Mahi along with BDB top leader Major (retd) MA Mannan took part in the meeting to discuss the election-related issues, including possible nominations.
Juktofront is a political platform, led by BDB President Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury.
