Pritilata Waddedar, whose nickname was Rani and pseudonym was Fultara, was one of the female freedom-fighters and Bengali revolutionary nationalist from the Indian subcontinent who was influential in the Indian independence movement. She joined a revolutionary group headed by Surya Sen. She is known for leading 15 revolutionaries in the 1932 armed attack on the Pahartali European Club during which one person was killed and eleven injured. The revolutionaries torched the club and were later caught by the British police. To avoid arrest, Pritilata consumed cyanide and died.
September 23 was the 88th death anniversary of Pritilata Waddedar. To mark the day, Farhad Alam made a special drama titled Biplobi Othoba Ekjon Premika. Robena Reza Jui played the role of Pritilata in the drama while popular actor Intekhab Dinar acted in role of Nirmol. Shooting of the drama was done at Ishwardi Railway Station in Pabna and famous Hardinge Bridge in Pakshi, Kushtia recently.
According to Jui, necessity of the story of the drama shooting was held in those places. She said, “It was really a big challenge for me to portray the role of Pritilata Waddedar in the drama. At first, when I got script of the play from the director I couldn’t understand how the work will be done. Later, we gave huge effort to make the work successful in front of the camera. Earlier, I had experience to work with Dinar Bhai. But it was a great experience for me to work with him in this drama. He is a top class actor. I was really impressed about his co-operation during shooting of this special drama. Due to story we went Ishwardi Railway Station and Hardinge Bridge. So, from true believe I can say viewers will enjoy the drama.”
Intekhab Dinar said, “I give thanks to director of the play to take challenge for making this drama. We had to work under scorching heat during shooting. Director tried his level best to make the work successful and I believe viewers will like the drama. It is no doubt the work has become one of my best works at present. Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman and Ripa Ronjona also acted in other roles in the drama.”
