Judicial probe into land grabbing by MP sought

Rights activists here on Friday demanded a judicial probe into the allegation of grabbing a land of Hindu families in Thakurgaon by ruling party MP Dabirul Islam.
The local Awami League MP has already grabbed a portion of the land of a minority at Thakurgaon’s Baliadangi upazila along Indian border and now he is trying to occupy the remaining land of the families, they told a press conference at Jatiya Press Club
after conducting an independent probe into the allegation. A probe team, led by Ain o Shalish Kendra executive director Sultana Kamal, visited spot at Paria Union of Baliadangi uazila during November 25-26, 2015.
The probe findings were presented at the press conference organised by Association for Land Reform and Development (ALRD).
Reading out a written statement, general secretary of the Vested Property Act Protection Movement Adv Subrata Chowdhury said MP of Tkakurgaon-2 constituency Dabirul Islam and his family members have set up a tea garden ‘Ranbag Islami Tea Estate Company’ in the bordering areas of the upazila.
