Judgment of ICT verdict leak on SQC now Aug 28

A cyber crime tribunal on Sunday deferred its pronouncement of a verdict in a case filed over leakage of a verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 to August 28.
Judge KM Shamsul Alam of Bangladesh Cyber Crime Tribunal passed the order deferring the pronouncing of its verdict in the case filed for allegedly leaking the draft
verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal-1. The ICT verdict convicted BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and sentenced him to death for his crime against humanity during the War of Liberation.
 Judge of the tribunal fixed the new date as he could complete writing the verdict ready till Sunday. On August 4, the judge fixed August 14 for pronouncement of the judgment after the defence and the prosecution completed submitting their arguments in the case.
The accused in the case are Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’s wife Farhat Quader Chowdhury, their son Hummam Quader Chowdhury, her manager Mahbubul
Ahsan, executed SQ Chowdhury’s counsel Barrister AKM Fakhrul Islam, two employees of ICT-1: office assistant Faruque Hossain and peon Nayan Ali and Barrister Fakhrul’s associate lawyer Mehedi Hasan.
On August 4, the court sent four accused-Fakhrul, Faruque,
Nayan and Mahbub to the jail after they appeared to the court. Earlier, they were on bail in the case. Besides, the court allowed Salauddin Quader’s wife Farhat Quader Chowdhury to remain on bail. The court also directed SQ Chowdhury’s son Hummam Quader to remain present in the court on the next date positively. He did not appear to the court on Sunday.
Another accused Barrister Fakhrul’s associate Advocate Mehedi Hasan has been absconding.
On February 15, the court framed charges against seven persons including SQ Chowdhury’s wife, son and a counsel of executed BNP leader in the case.
DB Inspector M Shajahan submitted the charge-sheet of the case to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka against the seven accused on August 28, 2014.
On October 1, 2013, ICT-1 sentenced BNP Standing Committee Member SQ Chowdhury to death finding him guilty of committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation of War in 1971.
Meanwhile, some parts of the draft verdict were allegedly found posted in the internet several hours before pronouncement of the verdict by the tribunal.
Later, showing the copy of the draft verdict, the convict’s wife and son raised a complaint that said the verdict was originated allegedly from the Ministry of Law. .
On October 4, the case was filed with Shahbagh police station under Sections 57 and 63 of the Information and Communication Technology Act.
BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury was executed in the Dhaka Central Jail on November 22, last year.
