Abu Bakar Siddique, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhanmondi Police Station said that the other residents of the building informed police after hearing sounds of gunfire.
“The body was found in a toilet beside the parking lot. The door was locked from the inside. The body with a pistol in Chanchal’s right hand was found after breaking the door,” said the police officer. A pistol was also found beside the body, he said.
The victim has been suffering from migraine defects and depression for a few days, the OC said. The members of law enforcing agencies suspect it was a suicide, he added.
“His family also informed that he shot himself on the head,” the OC said. The OC said a probe into Siddique’s death had been launched and the body handed over to the family after postmortem at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital’s morgue.
