The 45th founding anniversary of Awami Juba League (AJL), youth wing of ruling Awami League, was observed in the port city and its adjacent district today with elaborate programmes.
At one minute past zero hours, the founding anniversary programme of AJL was inaugurated by cutting a cake at the Darul Fazal market party office.
In observance of the day, leaders and workers of the AJL placed wreaths at the portraits of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and its founder-chairman Sheikh Fazlul Huq Moni and hoisted national and party flags at the party office in the morning.
A colourful procession was brought out from the party office in the afternoon which ended at Shaheed Minar after parading different thoroughfares.
A discussion was also held at the Party Office with city unit AJL convener Mohiuddin Baccu in the chair.
On this day in 1972, Awami Juba League (AJL) was floated at the instruction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and under the leadership of Sheikh Fazlul Huq Moni at a youth convention held at the auditorium of the Institution of Engineers in Dhaka.
The youth organisation was floated with a motto to follow the secular and democratic ideologies of Bangabandhu with a view to involve the country’s youth force in the struggle for building an exploitation-free Bangladesh.
