UNB, Dhaka :The High Court on Monday granted bail for a year to Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal president Moazzem Hossain Alal in a criminal case.Passing the interim order upon a petition, an HC division bench, comprising Justice M Rezaul Haque and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore, issued a rule asking the government to explain in four weeks why the accused-petitioner should not be granted a regular bail.On October 25, police arrested Alal along with 62 activists of BNP and its front organisations from his Lalmatia residence in the capital in a bid to foil their alleged plan to carry out subversive activities.Later, Mohammadpur police filed a case against the arrestees under the Special Powers Act, a stringent law.Advocate Zainul Abedin, assisted by Sagir Hossain Leon, appeared for Alal.
