The 42nd founding anniversary of Awami Juba League was observed in the city as elsewhere in the country with elaborate programmes yesterday.
The programmes of the day included cutting cakes, discussions, colourful marches, lighting of
candles, placing of wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and martyrs of the August 15 massacre including founder-chairman of Awami Juba League (AJL) Sheikh Fazlul Huq Moni and holding of doa and milad mahfil.
In the morning, leaders of AJL led by its chairman Omar Faruque Chowdhury placed wreaths at the grave of its founder-chairman Sheikh Fazlul Huq Moni and at the graves of the martyrs of the August 15 carnage at Banani graveyard.
