A Awami Juba League activist has been killed in Khulna’s Koira, three days after the Upazila polls.Local Awami League leaders blamed Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir for the killing on Saturday.The deceased was identified as Jahan Baksh, Juba League activist of Amadi Union. He was attacked by Jamaat-Shibir activists around 10am at a tea stall, said Koira Police Station OC Fazlur Rahman.They stabbed Jahan with sharp weapons in the middle of a heated argument over the Upazila polls, said GM Mohsin Reza, Awami League’s Koira Upazila chapter. Jahan died on the way to hospital. Jamaat-backed candidate AKM Tamijuddin was elected chairman in the Upazila polls held on Feb 19.OC Rahman said Jahan had previous enmity with the assailants over a fish enclosure.
