Miscreants burnt a mini-truck (dumper) of a local Juba League leader near Ashraful Ulum Madrasa under Pekua upazila of the district on Thursday night following the arrest of BNP Joint Secretary Salahuddin Ahmed on Wednesday.
Sources said the owner of the vehicle is Jahangir Alam, president of Pekua Upazila Juba League.
On Information, fire fighters rushed to the spot and controlled the fire, but the vehicle was totally burnt.
Police conducted quick drives to catch the unidentified arsonists.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pekua police station Md Abdur Rakib said, “After hearing the news of fire we rushed there, but the miscreants fled from the place in the meantime. We are conducting drives to nab the arsonists.”
Owner of the burnt vehicle, Jahangir Alam said, “BNP-Jamaat cadres conducted the offence. I strongly urge the administration to catch them.”
