The Rapid Action Battalion arrested a leader of Juba League, youth front of ruling Awami League, on Monday and seized a foreign made pistol and contraband drug heroin from his possession. The arrested was Jakirul Alom Jakir, 41, executive member of the Sylhet district unit of the JL, a resident of Kuchai village under Moglabazar station of Sylhet Metropolitan area, RAB said.
RAB-9 media officer Obain told that acting on a tip-off, they conducted a raid at Malnichhara Tea Garden area near the city at around 12:30am and arrested Jakir and recovered a foreign pistol loaded with two bullets and also 10gm heroin from his possession. He said that the arrested was handed over to Biman Bandar police after the filing of a case against him. The Biman Bandar police officer-in-charge Khan Muhammed Mainul Zakir told that they produced the arrested before the chief metropolitan magistrate court in the afternoon when the court ordered sending him to jail.
