Juba Dal man dies from bullet hurt in Lakshmipur

A Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal activist has died nine days after sustaining a bullet injury in a ‘shootout’ with the police at Kamalnagar of Lakshmipur. Juba Dal is the BNP’s student affiliate.
Arif Hossain, 25, had been admitted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) in Shyamoli in Dhaka on Mar 2.
He died at 8am on Wednesday at the hospital, said Kamalnagar Police Station OC Kabir Hossain.
Arif’s cousin Amzad Hossain said Arif was shot in an encounter with police on Kamalnagar Road near Berar Morh area of the Upazila. The bullet pierced through his shin bone.
He had been initially admitted to the Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital. Later he was shifted to the NITOR at Dhaka where he had a surgery on Tuesday.
His body was being taken to Lakshmipur, said Amzad.
