Police have arrested BNP leader Moazzem Hossain Alal from his home in Dhaka’s Lalmatia area on Saturday. The president of the party’s youth affiliate Juba Dal was nabbed along with 63 activists during a meeting at his residence around 10 am, said Mohammadpur Police Station OC Azizul Haque. “They were in a meeting at the basement of the building at Lalmatia. We had information that the meeting was meant to plan for violent activities during Sunday’s strike. The raid was conducted on receiving that information,” he told bdnews24.com. The BNP leader has been taken to the Detective Branch headquarters, said OC Haque.
