JU VC for pluralism to advance country

Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Professor Farzana Islam said that the coexistence of pluralism and constructive arguments can lead the country towards progress. Professor Farzana said, :It is usual that ideology and political affiliations of all teachers are not same.” She laid importance on cultivating the culture of tolerance and mutual respect.
Professor Farzana said this on Thursday while addressing a view-exchange meeting with the teachers of the university at a seminar room of Jahir Raihan auditorium on the campus here.
She also said education is the main factor in developing human skills and qualities.
On congenial academic atmosphere, the VC said, “We will always be aware about creating conducive environment for free thinking”.
She said the present government is governing the country with the spirit and ideology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. She lauded the government’s stand against terrorism, militancy and corruption.
About the session jam, the VC said priority would be to work for resolving the session jam as soon as possible. Conducted by JU Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique, Pro-VC Professor Abul Hossain, Treasurer Professor Abul Khaer, Deans of the faculties, Provosts of the dormitories, Chairmen of the departments and all the teachers of the university were present at the view-exchange meeting.
