JU to hold 20th Bird Fair Jan 7

With a view to creating mass awareness, the Zoology department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) will arrange a day-long Bird Fair on January 7, 2022 on the premises of Zahir Raihan auditorium of the university.
This is for the 20th time the fair is going to be held on the campus.
Professor Dr Md Kamrul Hasan of the department, confirmed the news to The New Nation Tuesday evening.
He said, This year we couldn’t arrange bird fair due to the pandemic situation. Observing the overall situation, we have decided to host the fair next year where honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam is expected to inaugurate the fair.
‘The day-long fair will include inter-university bird identification competition, photography exhibition on birds, painting competition for children, bird observations for children throug telescope and binocular through both audio and visual system, quiz competition on birds and stall decorating competition with photos and newspaper cutting’.
There will be given three awards on this fair. ‘Big Bird Bangladesh’ will be given for mentionable observations on bird (identifying new or endangered species of birds), ‘Conservation Media Award’ will be awarded for publishing news on birds or Biodiversity in print, electronic or online media and ‘Scientific Publication Award’ will be handovered for publishing article on birds on scientific journal.
Guests from different national and international organisations will attend the fair.
The fair will be jointly organised by Wildlife Rescue Centre, Bangladesh Bird Club, Arannayk Foundation, Channel 24, IUCN, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation, Bangladesh Bird Club and Bangladesh Forest Department.
