JU student Zubair killing verdict on Feb 4

The Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 of Dhaka on Wednesday fixed February 4 to deliver the verdict in Jahangirnagar University student Zubair Ahmed killing case.
Judge ABM Nizamul Haque of the court also passed order to send seven accused of the case to the jail turning down their bail petitions. Earlier, the concerned defence lawyers filed petition for upholding a High Court order that had granted them bail in 2012.
The seven accused are Nazmul Hossain Plaban, Kamruzzaman Shohagh, Mazharul Islam, Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan Masud,
Nazmus Sakim Tapu, Shafiul Alam Setu and Abhinandan Kundu.
Zubair Ahmed, a student of the English department of the university was beaten by some BCL activists on January 8, 2012 and he succumbed to his injuries at United Hospital in Dhaka city the following day.
A case was later filed with Ashulia Police Station in this connection and Police
submitted the charge sheet of the case against 13 students of the university on
April 8, 2012.
On September 8 last year, the Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 framed charges against them. Of the 13 accused, six escaped from the court during a hearing on February 23, 2014. They are Khandakar Ashik, Jahid Hasan, Mahbub Akram, Rashedul Islam, Khan Mohammad Rais, Ishtiaque Mehbub Arup.
All the accused are expelled leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League and also the batch mates of Zubair.
