JU student critically injured in auto-rickshaw collision

A student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) was critically injured after two battery-run auto-rickshaws collided head on the university campus yesterday.
The injured is Puja Majumder, a student of 2017-18 session under the Department of Journalism and Media Studies of the university, reports our JU correspondent.
Puja is now receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Enam Medical College Hospital with head injuries, said Sohel Ahmed, a visiting consultant of the hospital.
“Puja is in ICU now and her condition is critical as she suffered severe injuries in her skull. She needs an operation, which will be done tomorrow,” said the doctor. Witnesses said a recklessly driven battery-run rickshaw hit another auto-rickshaw from the opposite direction, near the university’s teachers’ club around 1pm, leaving her injured critically.
She was first taken to JU Medical Centre and later shifted to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar.
Jefrul Hassan Chowdhury Sajol, deputy register (security) of the university, said plying of all kinds of battery-run auto-rickshaws on the campus has been banned until further notice.
