Zoology Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Friday hosted a daylong bird fair on the campus amid festivity and enthusiasm as many bird lovers thronged to the campus to witness the fair of migratory birds at the outskirts of capital Dhaka.
JU Treasurer Professor Abul Khayer inaugurated the fair as the chief guest in the morning while ornithologist Dr Inam Al Haq, International Union for Conservation of Nature official Dr Hasib Irfanullah joined the function as special guests.
The daylong programme featured drawing competition of children, quiz, exhibition of books and posters, different competitions, exhibition of different species of birds.
With arrival of winter, thousands of migratory birds had taken shelter in the lakes of the university.
Most of them came from northern cold areas like Siberia, Mongolia, Xinxiang and other places of the Himalayas.
