The administrations of Jahangirnagar University reopened in-person classes and examinations on Thursday after around 19 months as the pandemic has eased in the country.
Attending the classes and examinations, Students and teachers expressed satisfaction.
Nuruzzaman Shuvo, a master’s student of History department said, “We had to wait a long for this day. We are thankful to our department for reception. I hope we will be able to overcome the losses.”
Professor Nazrul Islam, chairman of Geography and Environment department said, “Students are like our soul. A body is valueless without its soul. We are very happy to get them. We will try to make a plan to recover our academic losses.”
Students were allowed to attend classes on the campus provided they show the proof of receiving at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine and maintain health guidelines properly, said the authorities.
Like all other educational institutions in the country, the JU was shut in March last year to curb the spread of novel corona virus. On October 11 this year, the university reopened its residential halls to its fourth year honours and master’s students who got at least one dose of Covid vaccine.
However, the first year students (2019-2020 session) staged a human chain at the Shaheed Minar premises at around 12:30 pm demanding allowance to get up in the residential halls and to resume in-person classes and examinations for them like
