City Desk :
The classes for the 1st year honours courses under the academic session 2017-18 of Jahangirnagar Univesity (JU) will begin today.
“Due to the existing accommodation crisis at dorms, the university authority will not be able to allot seats among the newly admitted students right now,” Deputy Registrar (education-1) Abu Hasan told media on Sunday.
When the seat will be vacant, associated hall provosts will take initiative to accommodate students in vacant seats, he added.
Moreover, the university authorities will launch Dhaka to JU special bus services for the first year students so that they can attend regular classes without staying at dorms, he added.
Meanwhile, the university authority has taken initiative to drive out the invalid students from dormitories.
A notice signed by JU Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique has already been issued
for the invalid students to leave dormitories as soon as possible.
This year, a total of 1,986 students have been enrolled in different
departments and institutes of the university.
