JU becomes runner up in 5th Inter-University Games

Jahangirnagar University (JU) became runner up in the 5th Bangladesh Inter-University Games competition 2017 bagging 12 gold, two silver and 6 bronze medals.
The competition was held between March 28 and April 9 on Dhaka University (DU) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) campuses in the city, said a JU release here.
In the competition, Mahfuzur Rahman Sagor, a master’s student of JU Government and Politics Department bagged 12 individual gold medals in swimming.
Moreover, JU earned 2 silver and 6 bronze medals in cricket, basketball, athletics and handball competitions, the release added.
Earlier, on March 28, Inter University Sports Council organised the events titled as 5th inter-university games competition while a total of 29 universities took part in the competitions.
University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan as the chief guest distributed the prize among the winners on DU campus here yesterday with Bangladesh University Sports Council President Professor Alauddin in the chair.
Later, the JU winning teams today met JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam at her office on JU campus.
Professor Farzana congratulated the winning teams and hoped for more success in the future.
