Jahangirnagar University (JU) Administrative Officer Mahtab-ud-Zahid testified on Tuesday to Dhaka’s Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 in the case filed for the killing of JU student Zubair Ahmed.
Judge ABM Nizamul Haque of the tribunal recorded the depositions of the witness and fixed April 2 to record the depositions of other witnesses.
The court so far recorded the depositions of 16 witnesses, including three teachers of the university. They are Professor Dr Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, Professor Dr Md Arju Mia and Professor Dr SM Bodiar Rahman.
Zubair Ahmed, an English Department student of the university, was beaten by some Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists on January 8, 2012 and later he succumbed to his injuries at United Hospital of Gulshan in the capital on January 9. A case was filed with Ashulia Police Station in this connection. Police submitted the charge sheet against
13 BCL activists in the case on April 8, 2012.
On September 8 last year, the present tribunal framed charges against the BCL activists in the murder case.
