Administrative officials at a discussion unanimously mentioned collective efforts of all government and non-government organizations concerned has become indispensable to make the online birth and death registration process a total success.
They viewed showing birth registration certificates have been made mandatory in all important official activities to ensure different rights of citizens including children.
So, there is no way but to make the registration successful.
The officials were addressing a daylong training on online birth and death registration at Shilpakala Academy auditorium in Rajshahi yesterday.
Director General Office of Birth and Death Registration and Deputy Commissioner Office jointly organized the training. More than 250 people including district and upazila level administrative officials concerned, public representatives and entrepreneurs of Union Digital Centre (UDC) joined the programme taking part in its open discussion session.
Director General of Department of Birth and Death Registration Sheikh Mujibur Rahman attended and addressed the training as chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif in the chair.
Deputy Director of Local Government Division Dr Dewan Shahriar Firoj, Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shalahuddin and Upazila Chairman Jakirul Islam also spoke.
Chief Guest Sheikh Mujibur Rahman says online birth and death registration has taken Bangladesh one step forward regarding implementation of ‘Digital Bangladesh. He urged upon all concerned to complete the online registration process accurately to supplement the government’s effort to build digital Bangladesh.
He opined that hundred percent achievements of online birth registration and its application could be the vital means of preventing child marriage. Proper and meaningful functioning of UDCs is very important for making the online birth and death registration a total success.
