Jt army exercise with India from tomorrow in Ghatail Cantt

The joint military exercise, named SAMPRITI -7, between Bangladesh and India will be held at Bangabandhu Cantonment of Ghatail in Tangail district from November 5 to 18.
The theme of the joint exercise is — “anti-terrorist operation and tackling disaster”, said a press release of Inter-Service Public Relations [ISPR] on Thursday.

India each year on a regular basis since 2010. As a part of it, the exercise ‘SAMPRITI-7’ is going to held for the seventh time, it said.
The exercise is an important bilateral defence cooperation endeavour between the two countries and is the sixth edition of the exercise which is hosted alternately by both countries.
Last year, India hosted ‘SAMPRITI 2015’ at Binnaguri, West Bengal. The first exercise in this series was conducted in 2010 at Jorhat in Assam.
Sources said the exercise will simulate a scenario where both nations are working together in a counter insurgency and counter terrorism environment under the UN Charter.
The participants will initially get familiar with each other’s organizational structure and tactical drills during the exercise. Subsequently, the training will advance to joint tactical exercises wherein the battle drills of both the armies will be practiced.
Meanwhile, Indian Defence Ministry press release said: “Exercise SAMPRITI is an important bilateral defence cooperation endeavour between India and Bangladesh.”
“The joint exercise SAMPRITI 2016 will simulate a scenario where both nations are working together in a Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorism environment under the UN Charter. The exercise curriculum is progressively planned where the participants will initially get familiar with each other’s organizational structure and tactical drills. Subsequently, the training will advance to joint tactical exercises wherein the battle drills of both the armies will be practiced. The training will culminate with a final validation exercise in which troops of both armies will jointly practice a Counter Terrorist Operation in a controlled and simulated environment,” it said.
