JSC, JDC exams begin today

The Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dhakhil Certificate (JDC) Examinations-2017 will begin from today (Wednesday) across the country.
The examinations, which will start at 10am every day, will end on November 18.
Students from 28,628 educational institutions will sit for the examinations at 2,834 centres all over the country.
A total of 24,68,820 students will sit for the JSC and JDC examinations this year. Of them, 11,44,778 are boys and 13,24,042 are girls, but 24,12,775 examinees appeared in JSC and JDC examinations last year.
A total of 20,90,277 students (971,336 aboys and 11,18,941 girls) are taking part in JSC examinations, while 3,78,543 examinees (1,73,442 boys and 205,101 girls) are taking part in JDC examinations.
Some 96,212 irregular students are taking part in the JSC examination while 14,367 in JDC and the number of special students in JSC is 87,697 while in JDC it is 11,770. Besides, 959 students will sit for the JSC and JDC examinations in the overseas centres of nine countries.
The number of centres has been increased by 100, whereas the number of educational institutions has gone down by 133.
Meanwhile, the education ministry instructed the examinees to enter their examination centres before 30 minutes of the scheduled time.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said that the instruction had been given to check possible leak of question papers.
From this year, no examinations of physical education and health, vocational education, and arts and crafts subjects would take place under the central system.
