Staff Reporter :The Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations began across the country on Friday. The examinations’ were originally to begin from November 2, but it was delayed due to candidates’ security reason following hartal. Earlier, the JSC and JDC examinations slated for Sunday (Nov) 2 and Monday (Nov 3) were shifted to November 7 and 14 respectively due to hartal.The JSC and JDC examinations slated for Wednesday (Nov 5) and Thursday (Nov 6) will however be held on November 19 and 20 respectively for the same reason.Some 2,090,692 students — 1,764,595 from schools and 3,26,097 from madrasash – are participating in the examinations from 27,925 institutions throughout the country. The number of centers are 2,525.The Bangla first paper, Quran Majid and Tazbid were the first day’s subjects. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid visited several examination centres in the morning. This year, students will have to answer creative questions in all papers except the Bangla second paper, and the English first and second papers. The overall pass mark is 33. Physically challenged students will get 20 minutes extra time.Last year, several JSC-JDC examinations were rescheduled due to shutdowns called by Jamaat and BNP’s political programme.
