Parliament will go into the first session of the new calendar year on January 22 next following a 55-day recess. President Abdul Hamid convened the 14th session of the 10th parliament exercising the power bestowed upon him as per article 72 (1) of the Constitution, said a Parliament Secretariat handout on Tuesday.
Before the House goes into session at 4:00pm on January 22, the business advisory committee of
parliament will sit in a meeting with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair to fix the duration and businesses of the winter session. On December 8 last, the 13th session of parliament was prorogued after only five sittings passing five bills.
